While driving through the Chesapeake Bay region, I encountered this scene located in the middle of a wheat field. With this piece, I tried to capture the warm hues of the red barn and the recently harvested wheat field against the backdrop of a cloudy sky. While the wears and tears of time have taken a toll on this building, the surrounding landscape seems as alive as ever.

This is a marsh I saw while visiting Head of Harbor, NY. I always wanted to do a painting of a salt marsh. My first job was working at a Salt Marsh Nature Center in Brooklyn, NY. I spent many summers volunteering there afterwards and was always attracted to the beautiful landscapes created by the rows of chordgrass growing there.

This scene was captured at sunset at Long Beach Town Park in Long Island, NY. I was inspired to paint this by the pink and yellow hues of the sky. Bathed in the warm sunlight, the cliff seems to glow. Its features are softened by the atmosphere as it recedes into the background.

Under the pressing of a massive sky, silhouettes of houses reached such a degree of vulnerability, that in the beating of some few sun rays which found the force to lighten the ceiling of dark clouds, the houses took on an air of apparitions....
