The “Just One Bite…” project is a series of six acrylic on canvas paintings; all measuring to the size of 76 x 101cm. Creating a polar opposite to the “Another Kind Of Love” series, “Just One Bite…” is a far darker experience, and although demonstrating a relationship it also provides the ground for more sinister ideas such as temptation and fear. With direct connotations born from the original Snow White tale the paintings create a focus on the famous ‘poisoned apple’ and force the viewer to confront the beauty in bad decisions. Despite the priority being horror/terror, the artworks still successfully draw on something beautiful. The darkness of each work compliments the primary use of red, symbolising a range of strong emotions and impulses and contains associations with sensuality. The apple itself has religious connotations of the forbidden fruit. The paintings are far detached from a typical fairy tale as they do not knowingly suggest a ‘happily ever after’. They creat
